- David Jozef Komar is an ''Ooch Angel" today but he had the opportunity
to receive the gift of attending Camp Oochigeas.
- Camp Ooch gives children with cancer the chance to experience the outdoors,
acquire new skills, and meet new friends in a supportive and caring environment. It gives them the chance to be a kid again.
- At Camp Oochigeas, medical professionals, business people, former
camp attendees and many other caring individuals volunteer their time during the summer for three, 2-week sessions to guide
approximatedly 200 children, aged 6 to 19 through many planned activities - canoeing, sailing, swimming, water-skiing,
drama, overnight camp-outs and personal achievement events.
- About Journey 2003... During
the summer of 2003 200 Miles For 200 Smiles raised over
$55,000 and represented for Camp Oochigeas the support of 27 children.
- About Journey 2004... On
July 17-19, 2004, Karol Komar, a member of the Rotary Club of Brampton - Heart
Lake led a core group of cyclists including a former Canadian
National Cycling team member, and traveled the back roads of Ontario and through many communities in a effort to raise awareness and raise
funds for the camp. Our goal this year was to raise $62,000.00 and we succeeded! Todate we have raised $77,254.19. This represents the cost of sending over 27 kids to Camp Oochigeas
- a place they will never forget. A place where they are NOT special. A place where they feel safe.
- About Journey 2005 - Journey
2005 raised an amazing $83,622.00!! This represents the cost of sending over 29 children to Camp for
an unforgetable experience!!
